In this blog post, I'm going to talk about Top 10 Most popular street food of Bihar. This blog is based on Bihar culture. 

I am going to describe most popular street food of Bihar. 

My purpose of this blog post is to spare awareness about Bihar food and culture. Many people don't know about the most popular food of Bihar. So I decide that Why not write an article on Bihar food.

Bihar is situated north side of India. In the Bihar state of India,  There are many religions and unique culture. Because of this food is one of most important part of the culture. 




In past time this state was very popular, but now this state is lagging behind according to human development ratio. However, People of Bihar are located around India in every field. Bihar student is known for best raking in IPS.

In this article, I'll mention top 10 street food of Bihar.

These street foods are very popular in India. The list is based on my own personal choice. I love these street foods.



01. Litti and chokha:

Litti and Chokha is a very popular street food of Bihar.  Litti and chokha are prepared with Potato, Flavour, etc. This street food is not only popular in Bihar. This is also popular all over India. 

You can find this food at every corner of Bihar as well as every railway station of India.

Litti and Chokha have their own story. This food was used by our ancestor. Through this food, we learn many things about Bihar culture. This food can be cooked by just wood fire, without pot.



02. Samosa:

Samosa street food of Bihar


Samosa is the very popular food of all North India's states. In Bihar state, Samosa is a very popular street food. You can find Samosa on every street of Bihar.

Samosa is prepared with Boil potato, Flavour, etc. Today many people from outside of India eat Samosa. They love Samosa Because this is a fried dish. Bihar is the birthplace of Samosa street food.

Samosa's look is very attractive. It attracts many people by its color and looks.



03. Chura:

Chura is also known as paddy because this is a roasted part of paddy. Chura street food is also very popular with the farmer. They used Chura during work on their farm. This street food is commonly seen in the winter season, Bihar's farmer grows paddy in the winter season.

Chura is also famous for the festival of Makarsaranti. Makarsaranti festival is celebrated on 14th January.




04. Tilkut:

Tilkut is like a sweet. This street food is also known as Tilkatri. This is also famous for the Festival of Makarsaranti. 

This sweet is only seen in north India's state. People eat Tilkut and Chura together because of the festival and good taste.



05. Laktho:

Laktho is like a sweet. This sweet is also famous for winter's season.
This sweet is prepared with sugarcane, flavor, etc. Mostly, people of Bihar, they love this street food.

Laktho looks is very different. You can find this street food on every street of Bihar.



06. Peda:

Peda street food of Bihar


Peda is sweet. This sweet is so tasty, Because of its test people love this sweet.  Peda is prepared with milk, sugar, etc. In peda mostly part is milk. In Bihar mostly people love this sweet. At any festival, people distribute this sweet.



07. Jalebi:

Jalebi street food of Bihar


Jalebi is sweet. This sweet is not only popular in Bihar, but This sweet is also popular all over India. The amazing fact is that Jalebi is a national sweet of India. This sweet is used to distribute on any national occasion.

This sweet is very tasty. Jalebi is prepared with sugar, flavor, Besan, etc.



08. Malpuwa:

Malpuwa street food of Bihar


Malpuwa is the occasional sweets of Bihar. People of Bihar love this sweet because they used this sweet at any festival to adore God. Women of Bihar's mostly prepare this sweet. This sweet is prepared with sugar, milk, flavor, etc.

They distribute Malpuwa in family and relations. Bihar's woman says that Malpuwa is boon because They adore God.



09. Longlata:

Longlata is sweet food. This sweet is very popular in Bihar. Bihar's people love this street food. Longlata is prepared with sugar, flavor, etc.

You can find this street food on every street of Bihar.



10. Khaja:

Khaja street food of Bihar


Khaja is gifting sweet. This sweet is very popular in Bihar. This sweet is also popular for the marriage season. Bihar people used this sweet to bring in relation. So I can say that Khaja is like a gift to give relatives during the marriage.

This sweet is prepared with flavor, sugar, etc.

Today most people don't know about the beauty of Bihar. The Bihar state of India is wildly known as illiteracy and the poor state of India but in Past, it was golden place in Asia.

I am going to talk about top 10 amazing places in Bihar to visit if you really want to learn about the history of India and birth of religions like Buddhism.

1. Mahabodhi Temple, Bodh Gaya:

This is one of the popular temples in the world, It includes in UNESCO in 2017 It was built in memory of Lord Gautam Budha.

He founded Bodh religion and achieved his enlightenment under a  tree. So this temple was built because of his memories. He spent his life to preach his philosophy of peace. 

However, today people take his name with respect. Now most of the people from Bihar they say with proudly "I am from the place where Lord Gautam Budha achieved his enlightenment"


2. Nalanda University:

This University is the first university of the world, It is also known as Nalanda international university. This is located in Rajgir District of Bihar and it was built 6th-5th century BC. In past time many students come here to get the education from outside of India like  China, Japan, Korea, Nepal etc. 

Nalanda University was built by donation of thousand merchants so everyone can learn in this university 


3. Gol Ghar Patna:

This is situated in Panta city. It was built because of storage of huge grain at one place. So People can get food at a time when there is some natural disaster. There was no any source available to store grain.

It's completed in 1786 and its shape structure was designed by John Garstang. If you can ride on top of Gol Ghar then you can see whole Patna clearly. 


4. Sher Shah Suri Tomb, Sasaram:

Many people born in this world and many died silently. However, there are few people who create a history of their deeds Sher Shah Shuri was one of them. He was very talented, excellent and brave emperor of India. 

I learned from a book that he was brave since his childhood. Because once a time he killed a tiger in one attack. He cut the tiger's head only in one attack with his sword.

This tomb was built in memory of Sher Shah Suri.  I also mention about it in the above sentence This is second longest Tajmahal of India.


5. Cattle Fair, Sunpure:

Sonepur fair is also known as Sonepur cattle fair. This cattle fair is the second biggest fair of Asia. 

This fair attracts visitor from all over the world because this fair held on first winter week it means in November month and in this fair you can find everything such as wild animal, wild bird, stuff etc to purchase.


6. Sun Template, Dev

Sun Deo temple is one of the remarkable and notable places in Bihar. Its structure is approximately 100ft tall.

This temple is famous for the festival of Chatpuja. Chatpuja is a royal festival of Bihar state. Many people celebrate this festival through fasting.
This temple is from the ancient time and I have heard that this temple is a mysterious temple but I will mention about it next post.


7. Gandhi Madan, Patna

Gandhi Maidan is a historical ground in Patna near the Ganga river. It is spread across 60 acres of land.

Before India freedom from British ruler. They used this ground to play cricket, golf, and horse racing track. So they called it's Patna lawn but after freedom of India its name changed into Gandhi Maidan in memory of Gandhi Ji.

Today this ground is famous for the fair and political meeting. 


8. Ashoka Pillar, Vaishali

Ashoka pillar is built at Vaishali district. It is built with the highly polished single piece of red stone.

Its height is 60ft. A figure of a lion is placed on the top of the pillar.
Lichhavi state is said to be among world first republic.


9. Mahatma Gandhi Setu Bridge, Patna

Mahatma Gandhi bridge is over the Ganga river. It connects two district Patna and Hajipur.

This is second longest river bridge of India and length is about 600m.
It was constructed starting in 1972 and after ten years it was completed in 1982.


10. Pawa Puri, Rajgir

Pawapuri is a holy site for Jain Religion. This is situated in Nalanda district of Bihar state.
