Today most people don't know about the beauty of Bihar. The Bihar state of India is wildly known as illiteracy and the poor state of India but in Past, it was golden place in Asia.

I am going to talk about top 10 amazing places in Bihar to visit if you really want to learn about the history of India and birth of religions like Buddhism.

1. Mahabodhi Temple, Bodh Gaya:

This is one of the popular temples in the world, It includes in UNESCO in 2017 It was built in memory of Lord Gautam Budha.

He founded Bodh religion and achieved his enlightenment under a  tree. So this temple was built because of his memories. He spent his life to preach his philosophy of peace. 

However, today people take his name with respect. Now most of the people from Bihar they say with proudly "I am from the place where Lord Gautam Budha achieved his enlightenment"


2. Nalanda University:

This University is the first university of the world, It is also known as Nalanda international university. This is located in Rajgir District of Bihar and it was built 6th-5th century BC. In past time many students come here to get the education from outside of India like  China, Japan, Korea, Nepal etc. 

Nalanda University was built by donation of thousand merchants so everyone can learn in this university 


3. Gol Ghar Patna:

This is situated in Panta city. It was built because of storage of huge grain at one place. So People can get food at a time when there is some natural disaster. There was no any source available to store grain.

It's completed in 1786 and its shape structure was designed by John Garstang. If you can ride on top of Gol Ghar then you can see whole Patna clearly. 


4. Sher Shah Suri Tomb, Sasaram:

Many people born in this world and many died silently. However, there are few people who create a history of their deeds Sher Shah Shuri was one of them. He was very talented, excellent and brave emperor of India. 

I learned from a book that he was brave since his childhood. Because once a time he killed a tiger in one attack. He cut the tiger's head only in one attack with his sword.

This tomb was built in memory of Sher Shah Suri.  I also mention about it in the above sentence This is second longest Tajmahal of India.


5. Cattle Fair, Sunpure:

Sonepur fair is also known as Sonepur cattle fair. This cattle fair is the second biggest fair of Asia. 

This fair attracts visitor from all over the world because this fair held on first winter week it means in November month and in this fair you can find everything such as wild animal, wild bird, stuff etc to purchase.


6. Sun Template, Dev

Sun Deo temple is one of the remarkable and notable places in Bihar. Its structure is approximately 100ft tall.

This temple is famous for the festival of Chatpuja. Chatpuja is a royal festival of Bihar state. Many people celebrate this festival through fasting.
This temple is from the ancient time and I have heard that this temple is a mysterious temple but I will mention about it next post.


7. Gandhi Madan, Patna

Gandhi Maidan is a historical ground in Patna near the Ganga river. It is spread across 60 acres of land.

Before India freedom from British ruler. They used this ground to play cricket, golf, and horse racing track. So they called it's Patna lawn but after freedom of India its name changed into Gandhi Maidan in memory of Gandhi Ji.

Today this ground is famous for the fair and political meeting. 


8. Ashoka Pillar, Vaishali

Ashoka pillar is built at Vaishali district. It is built with the highly polished single piece of red stone.

Its height is 60ft. A figure of a lion is placed on the top of the pillar.
Lichhavi state is said to be among world first republic.


9. Mahatma Gandhi Setu Bridge, Patna

Mahatma Gandhi bridge is over the Ganga river. It connects two district Patna and Hajipur.

This is second longest river bridge of India and length is about 600m.
It was constructed starting in 1972 and after ten years it was completed in 1982.


10. Pawa Puri, Rajgir

Pawapuri is a holy site for Jain Religion. This is situated in Nalanda district of Bihar state.
